Yeah, what? Sorry CaptainDuckman, I think you are indeed behind the times. Same-sex couples can legally adopt or (in the case of lesbians) get artificial insemination (usually wouldn’t need IVF) in the US.
Small in-universe legality though: Technically parents can not register their children. But they can chose to raise them naked under the same laws that let them give dependent children nude punishments.

And IMO rightly so, children should have a father and mother, it makes for the most stable home environment (the rate of partner changes among homosexuals is far higher than among heteros, and supposedly it’s even higher among lesbians. I don’t care why that is, but that’s the numbers).

Many people would strongly disagree with you (but let’s not turn this into a political argument please). Personally I’m inclined to think having a mother and a father is ideal, mainly to provide (hopefully positive) male and female role models, but I don’t think that’s reason enough to disqualify a same-sex couple from being good parents.

At least that’s how I read it, as 2 women can’t biologically have a baby (and unless things have really changed lately can’t legally get an IVF done or adopt one).
