Discussion Area?

Currently there isn’t a good way to have discussions or ask questions that aren’t related specific pictures. That semi-off topic conversation about PN-like movies a little while back got me thinking, would it be good to have something like that here? Theoretically I could set up an actual forum, but I’ve never done anything like that before. So at least as a first step I’d probably just stick with the existing comment system, but create a specific page for general discussion. Would anyone be interested in that?

  1. I’m using word press for a blog. I say something and there’s a lot of discussion about it. Unfortunately, it still gets spammed. I have a spam blocker that’s working a whole lot better than not.

  2. If hosting costs aren’t an issue for you, and you’re okay with taking some time to moderate them, then by all means, go for it. There are a lot of things worth discussing about the PN universe, and I’m sure plenty of people here would enjoy just shooting the breeze. And hey, who knows? Maybe some people will try their hand at posting some PN stories.

  3. I for one am all for the idea of a “general discussion board”. It’d allow for discussions over “permanudity in other universes” like “permanudity in pokemon” without having to have an image post or anything like that. Not too mention the fact that some discussions on the board could also help inspire captions.

  4. main problem (apart from the hosting cost) is moderating things. Forums and the like are a magnet for trolls, griefers, and spammers even more than comment sections are.

    • Hosting cost isn’t an issue, as I’m already paying (a small amount) for hosting, and I don’t expect adding a forum would increase the load significantly. But yes, spam is a concern.

That’s one argument in favor of just sticking with the WordPress comments for now, just making a specific page for discussion. (Another being, it’s easy, and I want to see how much people are interested in participating before putting in too much work.)

  5. It sounds like a discussion would be an interesting thing to try. I imagine that exploring the ideas might appeal to a slightly different demographic, but that is probably not a bad thing.

I don’t visit all the comments, so I missed the discussion of PN-like movies – can you add a link to it? Thanks!

  6. I think there is much to discuss when it comes to permanent nudity. Having a way to discuss certain topics, rather than having a random discussion from a specific post, does appeal to me, personally.
