I wonder who the women were who posed for the old masters. Did they know that they would be immortalized? We’re they lovers or whores or neighbors? Did they feel tired or cold or sexy as they posed? Or were they like me? Tired of clothing and aware of the fascination their naked body held for textiles?
I do believe that’s Aphrodite. In the painting, not the girl. Well, ok, the girl could be Aphrodite too, but I don’t know that.
