Wear the chain over a sweater, blouse, … so that it only lies on the cloth. Wearing pearls on bare skin is like sitting down in a fur coat made of fur with long hair. The hair breaks and the fur is ruined.
Both is absolutly a real problem – only the most people don’t know these. My father was a trained furrier, so I know the problem with the furs.
I was unsure whether to use the word naked instead of undressed. Would it have been better, worse or exactly the same?

Pearls should not be worn directly on the skin, as the secretions from the skin (sweat, …) will cause the pearls to break.
How can a wrap-around pearl necklace NOT touch skin, at least around the back of the neck?
And hasn’t anyone invented a protective coating for that?
