Fair question. IIRC when this came up before I was specifically talking about workplace discrimination, but it’s not unreasonable to think the same would apply to schools. Perhaps I should have made it “alt”. On the other hand, maybe this school is in Japan, which could have different rules.

Because you’re a girl. Girls can wear socks and shoes for practical purposes. It looks good on them.

Good uniform choice by the school, removes the whole thing of “look, I have the new [insert clothing type here]!”

It’s Spirit week at my school. Each day we wear one less article of clothing. Today is Thursday.
