  1. This brings up an interesting question. In the real world, would it be indecent exposure to attend video meetings in the nude if you’re broadcasting from a private place? I should think not. I dare you to try. But be sure to tell us the stories.

    • I can’t see how it could be illegal when it is legal to attend a live meeting in a private conference room nude. Of course this doesn’t mean you would not get fired for doing it (either live or virtual) and it is possible that if you are using a company such as Facebook to host the meeting they might find it offensive and ban you or the company.

    • I’ve never heard of “virtual” indecent exposure before. Not a thing as far as I know. Such a law might exist somewhere, but all I can think of are laws related to minors (usually not relevant to a workplace meeting).

Of course that wouldn’t stop you from getting fired.

      • An interesting question for sure. If someone were to zoom bomb and shake their genitals on camera and they were somehow caught I’m sure the company could press charges just like you could a streaker at a sports event. Also a school recently tried to expel a student for having a bb gun in the background of a virtual class. It was over turned when lawyers got involved and said the school had no right to apply rules that applied to school property to a student’s private residence. That being said, i attended a meeting with my boss without pants once. Granted he only saw me chest up but still.

        • I’m not so sure. Let’s take a look at a random indecent exposure law. Here’s Texas’s.

Sec. 21.08. INDECENT EXPOSURE. (a) A person commits an offense if he exposes his anus or any part of his genitals with intent to arouse or gratify the sexual desire of any person, and he is reckless about whether another is present who will be offended or alarmed by his act.

I obviously the exact wording may vary, but my impression is that most are similar this. Did you spot the key word would will let our hypothetical Zoom flasher off the hook? Present. The people they would be recklessly offending are not present.

But hold on, you might still be substantially correct. It occurred to me that with the recent attention unwanted “dick pics” have been getting lately, some places might have outlawed that too. A few have, and coincidentally it appears Texas is one such place. It’s a lesser crime, but still, it looks like getting on Zoom naked (without consent of the other participants) could indeed be illegal some some places.

          • Brings to mind a Stallone movie where he answers a video call and the caller is a beautiful naked woman who flashes him and hangs up.
Probably the politicians will decide to protect us from ourselves because we can’t be trusted.
