    • It depends where they are. Different administrations have different rules. The minimum seems to be either one or three years, and most places have settled on ten years as a maximum term for voluntary registration.

Within the states it appears to be the individual state that sets the rules. The federal government, however, requires all states to enforce the permanude term according to the terms set by the originating state. This means that a PN may move to a state that has no PN system set up, but they must remain naked for their full term even if no one else there is nude.

There is also an international treaty that requires signatories to enforce the permanude status of any visitor, or any citizen who has received a sentence while abroad. Many, if not most, countries are signatories to the treaty as otherwise they lose the tourist dollars of the permanude crowd.

Thus while certain details, such as minimum length of registration, vary, it is very difficult to reduce the length of a term once one has registered or been sentenced.

    • As Daican-2’s detailed answer said, it depends on state (or country). But for what it’s worth I really don’t recall very many captions with a 3-year minimum. There may have been a slight trend toward 1 vs. 2 years as the blog progressed, but either of those are what I consider typical.

      • Actually, I can’t recall any 2 year minimums; it was always 1 or 3 years.

I always assumed that the 3 years was set by various administrations who were against voluntary registration but felt they had to permit it for political reasons who hoped the longer minimum would reduce the number of people who would actually register.

        • Huh. It’s possible what I had in my mind didn’t quite translate into what the captions says. I’ll have to look at that now.

          • So looking back at old captions, there are a decent number about people registering for two years, which in my imagination most likely because that was the minimum, but rarely was that actually stated. Found one though, which I’ll repost shortly, because why not?

  1. Don’t even think about the full year minimum. Just get out there and register – for the full ten year maximum. That body belongs to be naked, on display.
