Tumbex

Here’s something interesting I just heard about. Tumbex is an alternate site for viewing tumblr posts, including the adult ones. I’m not entirely clear if they found a way to partially bypass the adult content block, or if this is only an archive of stuff from before that. But it seems surprisingly complete, and considering it’s difficult to view adult blogs at all now, this might be a handy tool for some of you.

Here, for example, are the two blogs Daican-2 mentioned on the discussion page a little while ago.

  1. I would be happy if I could login to my tumblr to see someone’s page and their posts, when I search certain users for their tumblr originals I’m only able to see them manually on their page. Things like tumblex says page not found.

  2. Okay, I know this post is old, but I’m having some issues with Tumbex, and I don’t know where else to ask….
If I go to a blog on Tumbex (say, CaptionsOfNakedness), I can’t see ANY posts. None load whatsoever. I’ve tried several Tumblr blogs on Tumbex, tried clicking links from the Tumbex homepage, tried going to a specific post: Nothing works.
I can’t remember if it worked yesterday, but it for sure worked on Thursday.

PLUS, I can’t find any website support!

Does ANYONE know how to get some help, or what I might be able to do to see these blogs on Tumbex?!

        • This is gonna be an annoying answer, because I’m a weirdo, but Pale Moon is my main one, and it also works in SRWare Iron.

If you never heard of those, I don’t blame you. They’re forks of Firefox and Chrome, respectively, so those probably work too.

What browser are you on? I can’t imagine it’s any weirder than what I’ve got, unless it’s just super old or something.

          • Yeah I’m on chrome nothing special. Just wondering because my tumbex isn’t working either. Thanks.

    • Tumblr is actively attempting to block all access from any Tumbex/Tumbrall sites. Another nail in the coffin.

    • I’ve seen thecsame thing on my iPad. None of the photos are shown, and I found this message.

” Today is a sad day.

As many have noted, there are big problems with displaying images on the site.

The source of this problem is tumblr.com.

Obviously, they decided that my site was no longer acceptable and they set up specific rules so that tumbex users no longer have access to the contents of tumblr.

It’s unfortunate, I loved tumblr, that’s why I created tumbex. Using tumblr with an easy, clean and efficient interface was my goal. Because to be honest, their interface is really to be reviewed (otherwise you would not be here).

It is therefore with great sadness that I announce that you are living the last moments of tumbex, it was a great adventure, and a big thank you to all those who have followed me during all this time!

But don’t worry, I’ll be back soon with something even better;)’

What is weird is that the same site works on my Windows PC.
Been looking but no workaround found yet, and browser doesn’t make a difference.
      Good Luck

      • Hello,

I am the creator of tumbex.

Currently the site does not work on Safari which blocks crossdomain calls.

I am currently working to resolve the issue on SafariL, but the site however works fine on Chrome, Firefox, and Edge.

Regarding the message I put in early June, it concerns only Tumblr which is engaged in a hunt against Tumbex.
Presumably, Tumbex would have put on too much weight and hamper them.
In any case, I continue to fight so that Tumbex continues to live!

        • I’ve got a question for you then: How do I log into Tumbex?

I’d rather not use the google/facebook options, if possible, but I can’t figure out what credentials to use in the email/pass login option. Since I can’t find a way to register an account for tumbex, I can only assume I have to use an existing account for another site. I tried my tumblr credentials (since that seems like the logical choice), but that didn’t work.

        • Hey, how about you answer the emails people send to report abuse and copyright issues? I’ve sent multiple emails trying to have my pictures removed from your site but no-one ever bothered to reply or do anything about it.

  3. Hey, long-time lurker here!

Believe it or not, I was the creator of CaptionsofNakedness! :^D Along with a couple other blogs. CoN was yet another victim of the Tumblr Purge. (Oh sure, ban nipples but sexism, racism, bullying and white supremacy is ok Tumblr?) I though all my pics were gone for good, thank you for showing me how to view them again. This made my day. I have a whole backlog of captioned pics I would like to post on a new incarnation of CoN. Tumblr is off the table and a lot of the adult-substitues are just full of gross fetish blogs. Maybe I should do something siliar to what NWO has done and make a wordpress? Err, don’t worry NWO, I’m not trying to take your business or anything! 😛 Heck I would love to submit a few pics/captions to ya!

    • Hey, that’s great! Glad I could help. I kind of stopped following the other tumblr alternatives once I settled on WordPress for myself, but if you have any questions about the pros and cons of that particular option, feel free to ask.

In any case, whenever you get situated somewhere, let me know and I’d be happy to add a link to it. The ease of finding other people doing similar things is one of the few things I really do miss from tumblr, so I’d like revive that community aspect as much as possible.

And submissions are always welcome of course!

      • Thanks! So what are some if the pros and cons?

And I will let you know once I get the furniture moved in and get settled. ;^) I will submit a couple tomorrow.

        • I was thinking you might have more specific questions. Haha. But sure I’ll give you some general thoughts.

          Pros:
          Freedom
You do need to make sure your host is OK with adult content, but other than that, you shouldn’t have to worry about anyone looking over you shoulder questioning what you decide to post or suddenly deleting your blog without explanation.

          Plug-ins
Wordpress plug-ins are pretty cool. They make it really easy to add new features to your blog. Obviously it’s not guaranteed you’ll be able to find one that does what you want, but there’s a pretty good chance.

          Cons:
          Cost
You probably won’t be able to find a free host that allows nudity. Maybe one exists, but I didn’t have much luck when I looked. That doesn’t mean it’s necessarily expensive, I’m only paying a few dollars a month, which seems reasonable for a hobby, but obviously free would be preferable.

          Effort
Being able to do whatever you want also means being responsible when it goes wrong. The initial setup, and a couple things since (like that dark mode bug) required a significant amount of time and effort on my part. Whether you have free time to spare and how much you like/dislike tinkering with somewhat technical stuff could be an important consideration.

          • Thanks for replying so soon!

Unfortunately, I don’t have the technical skills or the funds to have a monthly fee. So WordPress is off the table. I think my best bet will be to find an adult-safe blogging or photo site. :^(

            • I was just thinking, you might also check out All About Nudity. It’s not exactly a blog host, but it might be close enough. And they do still need some more content there, so I bet the webmaster would be happy to help you figure out how to make it work if you wanted to give that a try.

            • Since we have been effectively kicked off Tumblr, I have been posting on three sites that permit nude photos.

#1 MeWe.com – This site allows you to set up albums within your group, and promotes ‘chats’ between people.
#2 BDSMlr.com – As you can guess from the name, this site accepts photos far beyond simple nudity, but are quite willing to accept our level of erotica. It has been around for a while, and the format is very similar to Tumblr
#3 newTumbl.com – This is a new site, begun in December, that they want to become the replacement for Tumblr for erotica. They are trying to match the Tumblr system, but there are still a number of glitches. In particular, a couple of us have not been able to receive their email verification emails; I had to use a different address to get registered. One new twist has been added to the interface: every shot must have a rating attached. I like the idea of supporting them, even though the system is not yet polished.
