Her mom isn’t “trying to embarrass” her. She is doing just like the second part of that statement says. She is fully supporting her daughter’s nudity and helping her normalize nudity so she is totally comfortable with it prior to leaving for college.
Meanwhile… what her mom isn’t saying but definitely thinking is that she is considering also registering.
Gwen: So to be modest I need to wear shorts and T-shirt?
Mom: Well a bra and panties too.
Gwen: So clothes that people can’t see are what makes a girl modest. People can’t see my bra and panties now because they’re back in my room. So I’m modest?
Mom: I’m not talking to you anymore.
