Email is flowing again

But oh man, it was worse than I thought, nearly 90 messages were stuck on my server. Not all of it is important, there’s a certain amount of automated messages and few bits of outright spam, but most of it is real communication from real people. And I’m real sorry for the delay in receiving it. Obviously I’ve got a backlog to work through now, so a little more patience will be required. I’ll first be getting back to anyone who sent a specific message or question and then try and catch up on submissions. Hopefully the generous supply (especially those that are ready to post) will allow my to increase my postings per day.

Not Again! (Email Trouble)

I have the absolute worst luck with email. So it seems I’ve been unable to receive email on my nudeworldorder.net account for some time. This includes submissions through the website. Since I never know when to expect a message, I don’t always notice right away when some thing goes wrong, but I admit it’s partly on me for not spotting the problem sooner.

The good news is this time no messages have been lost, it’s just that my email client is no longer on speaking terms with the server. Some kind of disagreement about security protocols. And no, I have no idea why that happened suddenly. But once I sort that out, I’ll be able to catch up on back mail. There’s a fallback option of a webmail client if nothing else works, but that’ll be a pain to use and I’d rather put effort into getting it working properly first.

Anyway, I apologize to those of you who sent submissions or other communication and seemingly got stonewalled. Hopefully I’ll be able to read your messages fairly soon.

April Fools!

In case anyone hadn’t figured it out yet, that whole PN-Zoom thing was an April Fools joke. I hope it was amusing. Here it is for posterity.

As many of you know, I’ve be struggling bandwidth issues for some time. For this reason, I’m not going to be able to offer full-size images anymore. I know this will be disappointing, but I think I found a solution to make it more acceptable, which I call “PN-Zoom”. I’ve been playing with an open source machine learning platform for image classification, and I’ve had pretty good results, so what I’ve done is configure it to isolate the most important parts of the images, and make them clickable, rather than the entire high-res image. I just put up a batch of new images using this system to test it out. For now, older pictures will work as before, but if everything goes smoothly I’m going to try and figure out how to process those the same way. So far it looks good though, and the only problem I’m seeing is that it conflicts with the WordPress comment hook.

The last three posts have been set back to normal (and comments enabled). For those who missed it, the goofy zoomable versions will be available here for a while at least.

Catching up

Man, I let myself get pretty far behind downloading submissions. Not even posting them, mind you, just reviewing and saving them. Most are from people who already have some waiting to go, so not a big deal I thought, but more than I realized are not, meaning they’ve been waiting quite a while to get anything posted at all. Sorry about that. Still working on clearing the backlog, but I’m gonna try to get submissions up for people I’ve unintentionally neglected in particular.

Time for some Updates

I’m going to be installing some WordPress updates later today. I’ve kinda let it go for a while so there’s a few to be done (WordPress itself plus various plug-ins). Mentioning it just in case anything breaks. If you notice anything wrong be sure and let me know.

Edit: Updates completed. So far so good. But of course the request to let me know if you spot any problems still stands.

Regarding Submissions

Haven’t been getting too many lately.

Back when I admitted that I was too busy to stick with the four-updates-a-day schedule I said that pre-captioned submissions were appreciated (since it’s less work on my end). This is still true, but I want to clarify that if you can’t do that, I definitely don’t want that to stop your from contributing at all. It might mean I don’t get to them as quickly, but they are still welcome.

Anyway, the current situation is that my cache of submissions is getting a bit low and I could probably update more often if I had a few more to pick from. So if you haven’t submitted anything in a while (or never at all) this would be a good time to send something in.

Guys, I think I need a breather

Too much has been going on in my life lately. And obviously recent global and national events haven’t helped any. It’s a stressful time. And I haven’t had energy or been in the right mood to give this blog as much attention as I think I should. Sometimes it feels like a chore instead of a hobby, which obviously isn’t good.

So I’m gonna try taking a different tack, and only working on this when I’m actually in the mood. That means updates are going to be less frequent and less regular. Hopefully once things settle down I can get back on track, but for now it’ll probably be more like one or two posts a day instead of four.

I’m not throwing in the towel, I’ve enjoyed running this blog for years, so that would be pretty rash to do just because I hit a few bumps.

Submissions are still open, but may take longer to get posted or receive a response. Pre-capationed images are especially appreciated.

Just a little status update

Someone pointed out that I never really posted any kind of resolution my server troubles, perhaps leaving some of you wondering what’s up.

I think I can now safely say we’re out of the woods. Bandwidth is still a little high, but after installing Jetpack again it seems to be at an acceptable level.  Not my favorite plug-in but it’s good at its job. Incidentally, that also means you can use Markdown formatting in comments again if you wish. So basically everything’s fine on the technical front.

There is one other “problem” though. I hope I haven’t let this be too obvious, but I’ve been kinda neglecting the blog due to a confluence of events keeping me unusually busy for the last couple weeks. For example any submissions that need extra attention, e.g. because there’s alot of text that’s difficult to fit, are sitting on the back burner at the moment. I hope in the near future I have time to catch up on that stuff.

But for now, everything seems to be working, submissions are still open, enjoy the nudity.

Media Library Issues

So a few days ago I noticed a relatively small, but annoying problem that resulted from the host move. A large number of images didn’t get added to wordpress’s database. The files exist, and display fine when you’re just reading, but I can’t manipulate them through the blog interface. So for instance if I wanted to delete and replace one (perhaps to correct an old typo) I’d have to do that through FTP or similar. Not very convenient. I’ve been looking for solutions, but there just doesn’t seem to be anything really good. I’ll be working on this, but it’s time consuming and error-prone.

As a result of such an error, a few images are missing from the blog entirely right now. Oops. Only like 4 I think, so it’s not too big a deal, but  I intend to fix that of course. It’s just gonna take a little while to untangle this mess.
