I thought about it when I posted this and my theory is she was already in good shape but wanted to tone up further before registering. So “getting fit” was pretty much accomplished already.
Yeah, that struck me as a little odd too. My best guess is what she meant is that she got in shape ahead of registering, but can’t fix her tan until after. If she doesn’t want to use a tanning salon, and didn’t have anywhere private to sun bathe nude that kind of makes sense.

It takes a whole lot longer to get fit than it does to even out tan lines.
