Captcha Trouble?

I was just alerted to a very weird error with the captcha plugin. Apparently it breaks if you use any emoji in your message.

You can use old-school emoticons like :) and some of these even get converted to images, but actual emoji trip it up somehow. Quite strange. It doesn’t seem to have a problem with other Unicode characters like Chinese… it just hates emoji I guess.

Anyway, sorry for the inconvenience, but I doubt I can fix it short of finding a whole new captcha plug-in so please just refrain from using emoji in comments for now.

    • Actually you just inspired me to test something. What happens if I do it while logged in so I don’t need to solve a captcha?

The answer, unfortunately is that although the comment submits OK, the emoji get deleted anyway. I guess WordPress doesn’t support them or something.
