I think the premise of the bit is that she didn’t know she would be stripped by the magician’s magic.
She should have disappeared entirely. But the magician is clumsy and only managed to disappear with his clothes! Lucky for us!
“When you strip behind that cloak” makes it sound as if you’re saying that magic isn’t real!
