  1. The naked girl is sitting on a WW2 German Army motorbike sidecar with a Confederate flag hanging off the back. The bike in the right of the photo has a giant Totenkopf (the emblem of the SS) on its side.

This is a photo of a group of neo-nazis.

    • That’s impressive. I was totally distracted by the naked woman and missed all the other stuff. There’s nigh on 3 years of postings on this site and who knows what subversive material could be lurking on here. It needs urgent scrutiny. Your attention to detail and your self discipline clearly makes you the right one for the job. Off you go! 🙂

  2. Interesting that this one caused such a discussion. For the record, I’m not a Southerner.

All of my captions are written from a purely hypothetical point of view in a fictional context. This doesn’t mean that I or anyone else on the site agree with or condone the content or any message.

Quite honestly the caption has nothing to do with the Confederate Flag. It’s just a fictional character talking about a common stereotype related to Southerners. “Southern pride” in this context is not referring to anything racist, it’s referring to her pride of her body.

Apologies to the admin if this caption attracted any unwanted negative attention. And of course apologies to any who may have been genuinely offended by the caption and associated image.

  3. Well this was an odd choice. It’s realistic though and promotes discussion I guess. Still a very odd choice.

  4. disappointing this site promotes racism. This post is not a good look on any website. Shame on you. double shame for not allowing this comment to be posted.

    • All comments from new users go through moderation as an anti-spam measure. But I always approve comments from real people. Well almost always, I do recall blocking a comment calling someone an “ugly jew” once. But for the same reason I don’t block legitimate comments, I don’t censor submissions for political content. But obviously I’m racist, that’s easier to understand I guess.

      sigh

By the way, no I don’t think the person who sent that was racist either, nor even a southern redneck. I believe he just does what I do, find interesting pictures and write captions from a hypothetical point of view of the people in the pictures. “What might they be thinking?” That doesn’t mean either I or he necessarily agree with what it says.

I guess you can blame me for the title if you want, in retrospect I see how that might have made it sound more political, but I didn’t mean anything by it. I normally take titles from a word or phrase from the caption, “Pride” was taken, so I added a few words to it. Probably just “Southern Pride” would have been cleaner.

      • We all have blind spots. It doesn’t matter about what kind of pride it is Southern or not, that flag is a symbol of hate. When people tell you that and you dig your heels in anyway, it’s easy to see why some would call you racist.
If you’ll take down anti-semitism why not take down anti-black? Because, regardless of intent that is what this is. It’s anti-black, it’s anti-semitic, it’s anti-asian, it’s anti-everyone who is not eligible to join the Klan.

        • Symbols can mean different things to different people. The idea that intent doesn’t matter is one of the silliest things I’ve ever heard.

Following this line of reasoning, I decided to see where the image came from, I was prepared to remove it if it turned out this was some notorious racist group, because to me that would be far more relevant. Turns out it’s actually from Russia, so chances are it didn’t mean anything to them aside from “something bikers would fly”. Or conceivably they could be showing support for one of the separatist groups over there who have adopted it for its “rebel” meaning. But it’s pretty safe to assume they didn’t mean “bring back slavery”.

          • Indeed. Growing up in the UK the flag symbolised being a “rebel” and anti-establishment in a cool, wholesome sort of way, such as seen in “The Dukes of Hazzard” In that same spirit, (but somewhat before the tv series) it was picked by the Oxford Rebels speedway team who sported a Confederate battle flag on their race jackets. Amongst other team insignia I had a “Rebels” patch sewed into the jacket I wore to speedway matches all over the UK. I certainly wouldn’t wear that today! That flag has been hijacked by far right groups and the innocence we wore it in has long gone as it’s now a flashpoint for American identity politics, so even if it appears in an innocent, humorous setting such as this it’s going to be challenged, usually anonymously. Pity, because it’s a cool design. I did get the “Daisy Duke goes permanude” theme of the post, though. 🙂

      • Saying you are not a racist but catering to racists makes me question your beliefs.

Either you are completely tone deaf or you are a supporter of racism by leaving this image posted on your website.

You are no hero to free speech by promoting racist images. It would be one thing if the page was not so heavily monitored. Then I could accept some posters are either racists or trolls trying to stir up the rest. However, you personally monitor each and everything happening here. That makes YOU responsible for what appears here.

Either remove this image of racism or admit you are a racist deep down. There cannot be another option here. You brought this on yourself by agreeing to post it.

          • You’d rather be wrong than admit a mistake.
You’d rather be a racist than admit a mistake.
You’d rather deflect attention rather than admit a mistake.

      • Wow, ignorant much? Clearly you have not looked into the history of the congererate flag or the reasons for the civil war. Everyone acts like everyone and their dog owned a slave in the south when in fact only the rich did. Why would the majority of the poor south fight for a right they would never hope to take advantage of? They wouldn’t.
Everyone acts like the civil war was over slavery because it was what lead to lincolin freeing the slaves when in fact it was because the southern states wanted to ceced from the union because the over populated north had more representation in the goverment and favored laws that were benificial to industrial rather than agricultural interests. Did you know that not only were there free blacks in the south but some even fought in the confederate army? Even today in the south i have known blacks who fly the rebel flag because they consider themselves rebels. Just because a bunch of loud mouthed jackasses use a symbol doesn’t mean that everyone who uses it have the same belief. Take a look at the swastika, it was used as a wholesome religious symbol representing peace and the sun by asians and native americans long before the nazis subverted it. And what’s to stop an extreamist group from taking some other symobol and subverting it like the nazis did? Do we all stop using a good symbol just because some group we disagree with also starts using it?

We will never get past our own racist history until we stop recgonizing false rasicsm and we recognize the forms racism takes today. Say you work for an ad agency and a grocery chain hires you to to create an ad promoting summer picnic food. In my mind thats foods like fried chicken, potato salad, and watermelon, you know, stereotypical “black food” that we all enjoy at picnics. Now, if you choose black models to be a family for a photo shoot where they are posing with the food you’re racist because you are promoting the steeotype. If you cast white models you don’t look racist but you didn’t choose the black models because they are black and that is racist. Even if you choose asian models but you are still racist because your choice was racially motivated. There are workplaces that require diversity as part of the hiring process meaning if a group is all one race you cannot be hired if you are that race even if you have the talent and skills to double the profitability of the group. Then you have people who play the race card when they don’t get their way. I can’t tell you how many times i have heard people call others racist for enforcing a rule they enforce on everyone regardless of race. I myself have been on both sides of that stick.

I hate hate in any form includimg racism. The problem with racism is that it is a hate that is considered by many to be worse than any other kind of hate but at the end of the day all hate is bad. Racism is also a form of hate that targets only one race and is defined by intent. How do you measure intent? If a white man hates a black man is he racist or does he just hate a man who wronged him somehow, or has different views, or maybe he hates him because he supports an opposing sports team? Why is it ok for a black man to hate a white man but not for that white man to hate him back? Hate is hate and its not ok wether it is racial hate, religous hate, sexist hate or whatever kind of hate you can come up with. Now if you meet someone who talks about hanging all blacks or reinstalling black slavery then by all means speak out, i can guarantee you you won’t be the only one and it will be a mixed race group standing with you but don’t go around accusing others of supporting something they have stated multiple times they don’t or twisting their actions into something it isn’t.

  5. The group of people who fly that flag today are the same ones who would have supported Jim Crow in the past.

The Southern-Democrats of the 1860s are Republicans today. Any suggestion otherwise is either ignorant of history, a liar, or both.

    • 1) The southern Democrats of the 1860s are all dead.
      2) The whole party switch myth has been totally debunked more times than you can imagine.
      3) This is not a political site.

      • Yep they’re dead, that’s why the parties haven’t switched.

You do understand the inherent contradiction there. Yes? No, you don’t. It’s more important to defend slavery. Isn’t it.

If this isn’t a political site then stop.

        • Maybe others will stop when you stop posting your foolishness. No one here is defending slavery in any way. That is all you.

The Democrats of today are still the party of slavery (and segregation.) They just do it via different means.

  6. Yeah, I’d have to agree with the anonymous posters here: Southerners often are a bunch of racist rednecks, especially those who still fly the Confederate flag.
