That would be a diabolical refinement to a nude punishment. It makes more sense than having the convicted person strip at the courthouse or police station and then walk home, because some people would live nearby and some far away so the punishment would vary. However, to be fair, the distance would have to be standardized (not just “out of town”). Three miles is about an hour walk. So, draw a circle 3 miles from the convicted person’s home, choose the most populated route, and drop them off at the other end of that route. But if it’s a small town and they choose to walk twice as far to go AROUND town rather than THROUGH it, I guess they can do that? It’s not like the Game of Thrones Walk of Shame where the route is prescribed?
they would be allowed to wear specific clothing when it’s very cold outside or raining very heavily, it would stop people from doing crime with the concept though.
As a method of execution it seems to have a better chance of success than your lethal injections have recently. You may be onto something there. Rather than the usual methods of execution, the US could try anaethetising the prisoners then putting them outside naked in the winter cold and letting nature take it’s course.

Even in a fantasy setting, this seems like something that wouldn’t be believable. An interesting concept, but pretty far-fetched.
I’m like 85% sure that this is illegal, and depending on local environs it’s practically a form of indirect execution by way of exposure.

This sounds like cruel and unusual punishment. I’d see a lawyer. You may have a case.
